Annular solar eclipse

6 February 2027

What happens

The Moon passes between Earth and the Sun and covers part or all of the solar disc. What you see depends on where you stand — the deepest phase falls along a narrow track.

How to watch

  • Never look at the Sun without eclipse glasses or a certified solar filter. Sunglasses and exposed film are not safe.
  • A pinhole projector shows the partial phases safely on a sheet of paper.
  • Cameras, binoculars and telescopes need the filter over the front, never at the eyepiece.
