Annular solar eclipse
26 January 2028
What happens
The Moon passes between Earth and the Sun and covers part or all of the solar disc. What you see depends on where you stand — the deepest phase falls along a narrow track.

How to watch
- Never look at the Sun without eclipse glasses or a certified solar filter. Sunglasses and exposed film are not safe.
- A pinhole projector shows the partial phases safely on a sheet of paper.
- Cameras, binoculars and telescopes need the filter over the front, never at the eyepiece.
